SytnerTV: Audi Q7 Review

The new Audi Q7 brings a fresh approach to Audi’s popular seven-seat SUV, with a bold new exterior design, a completely refreshed interior and updates focused on comfort and technology. With its larger proportions and more squared-off styling, how does the latest Q7 build on the success of its predecessor?

In this SytnerTV review, Matt takes a closer look at the new Audi Q7, exploring its standout design features, updated technology and spacious seven-seat interior before heading out on the road to discover how it performs. But just how impressive is it behind the wheel?

Exterior Design

The new Audi Q7 adopts a noticeably different design, taking inspiration from Audi’s latest styling language. At the front, a larger Audi grille features the new four-ring emblem, while the split-headlight design separates the daytime running lights and indicators from the main headlights.

The squared-off shape continues along the side, with pronounced wheel arches adding definition to the bodywork. This particular Vorsprung model features striking 23-inch alloy wheels, while its overall length now exceeds five metres, with a wheelbase of more than three metres.

At the rear, the changes are equally noticeable. The more traditional SUV shape is complemented by a new lighting design that stretches across the back of the vehicle, alongside updated Audi badging and twin exhaust outlets on this V6 diesel model.

Matt is particularly impressed by how much the exterior has changed, highlighting the new proportions and styling as a significant departure from the previous-generation Q7.

Boot Space and Seven-Seat Practicality

The Audi Q7 continues to offer seven seats as standard, making it a practical option for families and those who regularly need additional passenger space.

With up to 800 litres of boot space available, there is plenty of room for luggage when the additional seats are folded away. The third row also offers enough space for adults, rather than being limited to younger passengers.

Several convenient controls in the boot make adjusting the seating arrangement easier. The maximum passenger and maximum luggage buttons allow the seats to be electronically folded down or raised back into position. An electrically operated tailgate also comes as standard.

Interior and Technology

Inside, the new Audi Q7 interior has undergone a substantial update, with a more modern layout, premium materials and an impressive range of technology.

This Launch Edition model features contrasting Nappa leather seats with red stitching, which Matt highlights for their comfort and distinctive design. Ambient lighting adds to the atmosphere, while the elevated driving position provides a commanding view of the road.

Technology takes centre stage, with a 12.3-inch MMI infotainment display supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A separate passenger display mirrors the central screen and can be operated independently by the front passenger.

Other interior highlights include:

  • A new Audi steering wheel with physical controls.

  • Heated and ventilated front seats, controlled through the infotainment display.

  • A panoramic sunroof.

  • Wireless MagSafe charging points.

  • A Bang & Olufsen sound system.

  • Ambient lighting, including an illuminated dashboard light bar that responds to the indicators and hazard lights.

Matt is particularly impressed by the quality of the cabin and the changes to the interior layout, describing it as a much more distinctive and enjoyable space than previous Q7 models.

Driving Performance and Comfort

On the road, the Audi Q7 focuses on delivering a smooth, refined and comfortable driving experience rather than outright performance.

The model featured in Matt’s review is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine producing around 300 hp and more than 600 Nm of torque. This provides enough performance to accelerate from 0–62 mph in approximately 6 seconds.

The engine is paired with mild-hybrid technology, which helps improve efficiency and supports the car when pulling away and coming to a stop. At low speeds, the system can use electric power to assist the transition, creating a smoother experience in traffic.

One of the biggest highlights is the standard electronically controlled air suspension, combined with adaptive dampers. Together, they help absorb uneven road surfaces and keep the cabin feeling calm and composed.

The Q7 also features standard all-wheel steering, which helps improve manoeuvrability at lower speeds and stability when travelling faster. Despite its considerable size, Matt finds the vehicle surprisingly easy to position on the road.

He is particularly impressed by how well the suspension handles the UK's uneven roads, describing the overall experience as smooth, comfortable and reassuring.

Final Impressions

The new Audi Q7 brings a significant update to Audi’s seven-seat SUV, with refreshed styling, a more advanced interior and a driving experience focused on comfort and refinement.

From its bold new exterior and premium cabin to its practical seven-seat layout, the latest Q7 builds on the qualities that have made it such a popular model.

For Matt, the biggest improvement is how all these changes come together on the road. The V6 diesel provides plenty of performance, while the suspension and all-wheel steering make it feel composed and easy to drive.

Ultimately, the new Audi Q7 offers a compelling combination of space, technology and luxury, making it an impressive choice for those looking for a comfortable and capable seven-seat SUV.
