In this SytnerTV review, Matt gets behind the wheel of the new Bentley Flying Spur S, exploring how this luxury saloon combines striking design, exceptional craftsmanship and exhilarating performance. With a powerful V8 hybrid powertrain and a series of subtle design updates, the latest Flying Spur S builds on Bentley's reputation for creating cars that deliver both sporting excitement and outstanding comfort.
Having had the opportunity to see one of the first examples of the new model, Matt takes a closer look at the exterior and interior before heading out on the road to discover what makes this latest addition to the Bentley Flying Spur range so special.
The new Bentley Flying Spur S retains the unmistakable presence of a Bentley, with carefully considered updates that give it a fresher, more contemporary appearance. For Matt, one of the most noticeable changes is at the front, where the car adopts distinctive single headlight units inspired by the Continental GT.
Featuring intricate Y-shaped detailing, the new headlights create a striking front-end design. They also mark a significant milestone for Bentley, making the Flying Spur the first Bentley saloon since 1962 to feature a single headlight on each side.
A bold gloss black grille and illuminated Bentley logo add to the car's commanding appearance, while the deep Emerald Green paintwork creates a sophisticated contrast with the S specification's black detailing. The 22-inch black alloy wheels further emphasise its sporting character, complemented by a carbon fibre styling package that includes a front lip spoiler, boot lid spoiler and rear diffuser.
At the rear, darker tail lights retain the distinctive Bentley B detailing, while a quad Akrapovič exhaust system adds a purposeful finishing touch.
Matt notes that the changes are relatively subtle, rather than a complete redesign, but believes they successfully bring the Flying Spur up to date. For him, the result is a car that looks magnificent while retaining the elegance and presence that make it instantly recognisable as a Bentley.
Stepping inside the Bentley Flying Spur S interior, Matt is immediately impressed by the exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The rich Burnt Oak leather upholstery, wood veneer, Alcantara headlining and glass roof create a sophisticated cabin, complemented by distinctive S detailing.
Rear passengers benefit from generous space, electrically adjustable seats and headrest cushions, while the Naim sound system and heated, ventilated and massage seats enhance long-distance comfort.
Technology blends seamlessly with traditional luxury, with Bentley's signature rotating central display remaining one of Matt's favourite features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto add everyday convenience, while the beautifully finished cabin delivers the special sense of occasion Matt believes every Bentley should offer.
The Bentley Flying Spur S features a 4.0-litre V8 hybrid powertrain producing 680 PS and 930 Nm of torque – over 20% more torque than any previous Flying Spur S. It accelerates from 0–62 mph in approximately 3.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of more than 190 mph.
The V8's distinctive soundtrack is enhanced by a sports exhaust, while a limited-slip differential helps deliver sharper handling and greater agility. Despite its size, the Flying Spur S feels surprisingly nimble on winding roads, combining effortless comfort with responsive performance for a more engaging drive.
The Bentley Flying Spur S delivers exceptional ride comfort and refinement, balancing its sporting character with the luxury expected of a premium saloon.
A quiet, composed cabin, spacious rear seating and heated, ventilated and massage seats make longer journeys effortless. Despite its size, the Flying Spur S feels surprisingly agile and reassuring on narrower, winding roads, with responsive handling that adds to the driving experience.
Whether cruising on the motorway or enjoying a more spirited drive in Sport mode, the Bentley Flying Spur S combines everyday practicality with exceptional luxury, ensuring every journey feels special.
After exploring the design, interior and performance of the new Flying Spur S, Matt's conclusion is clear: while the latest updates may be subtle, they make a meaningful difference to an already impressive car.
He particularly praises the refreshed exterior styling, the exceptional quality of the cabin and the way the V8 hybrid powertrain delivers both effortless pace and an engaging soundtrack. Above all, it is the car's ability to combine contrasting qualities that leaves the strongest impression.
As Matt explains in his review, the new Bentley Flying Spur S is comfortable, sporty and refined, delivering an impressive performance without compromising the luxury expected from the brand.
For drivers seeking a luxury hybrid saloon that combines handcrafted design, powerful performance and everyday practicality, the new Bentley Flying Spur S makes a compelling case.
