40 Years of Audi Sport

Celebrating 4 decades of fast and exciting Audis

40 years, more than 250,000 vehicles produced in the past ten years alone, and more than 400 clinched motorsport titles. These are just some of the impressive key figures that stand out for Audi Sport GmbH.

Where it all started

In 1983 - quattro GmbH, now known as Audi Sport GmbH was founded. It started by selling accessories, and eleven years later, another important pillar was added. Audi Sport customers, who love the unusual, have been able to have their vehicles customized. Then pioneering technology helped much more in terms of driving dynamics, stability, traction, and safety, and created the basis for its major sales and motorsport successes.

quattro GmbH created more new equipment and refinement options outside of the standard Audi range. From exciting exterior and interior colours, and high-quality design options to technology and sporty wheels.

Nowadays we see RS models become personal one-offs with thousands of individual design combinations.

Birthday Celebrations

Festivities began in May at the Nürburgring 24 Hours weekend. Four Audi R8 LMS cars of the Audi Sport Teams competed in retro designs, featuring famous liveries from Audi’s motorsport history.

The UK has always been one of the biggest markets for Audi’s performance cars. So what better way to mark the 40th anniversary of Audi Sport than by holding an unforgettable evening at the London restaurant of award-winning chef and Audi Ambassador Theo Randall. Guests enjoyed a delicious three-course meal and then to end the night they were treated to a surprise performance by British singer-songwriter Jamie Cullum, who has been an Audi Ambassador for 20 years.
