The new Q9 SUV combines its powerful mild-hybrid plus V6 TDI engine with an optional electrically deployable tow bar, allowing it to tow up to 3,500kg (braked, measured on a 12% gradient). Trailer manoeuvring assist is also included with the optional tow bar.

The 55 TFSI is the version offering the most performance, as it takes just 5.6 seconds to accelerate from 0-62mph, and is capable of a top speed of 155mph. It is thirstier than the diesel engines though, with Audi claiming 27.4-26.4mpg*, while CO2 emissions stand at 237g/km*.
Moving to the diesel options, the 45 TDI can hit 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds, and accelerate to a top speed of 140mph*. The fuel consumption, Audi claims 35.8-34.0*mpg and CO2 emissions vary between 217-208g/km*. Those fuel efficiency figures are the same for the 50 TDI, though the 0-62mph time is cut to 6.1 seconds, and the top speed is raised to 150mph, where permitted.
